Default Aluminium covering

Glass covering a Top Flite P51(giant scale), would like to use the aluminium tape covering. But would combination be too heavy. So far i have only covered all movements, ail, flaps, elv, fin & tail with glss cloth. should i continue to glass cloth or not go any further.

Default RE: Aluminium covering

I would think that if you tried to apply aluminum tape without glassing, you would have a number of problems. First, the balsa would dent when you try to burnish the aluminum. Second, the wood grain and any imperfections would show through. Third, if you ever needed to re-position a piece of tape, it could possibly tear up the wood.
