what size 4 stroke in a Global Fokker D-7?
Hey Guys, I've got a Global Fokker D-7 still in the box and I wanted to put a bigger 4 stroke in then the Magnum 52 that they suggest. Does any one know what bigger 4 stroke would fit without having to cut up the cowling? I was thinking about some thing around a 70 would be better.
I've got a Magnum .61 that I was going to put in but decided not to since it's not a very powerful engine and I want power to spare.

Hey Guys, I want to make sure that either the OS 70 or Saito 72 will fit under the cowling with out cutting big holes in it? Just making sure since I can't find to much on engine dimensions to compare.

You can download the Saito 72 manual from:
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=SAIE072
The OS 52 and 70 manuals are available from:
http://www.osengines.com/manuals/index.html
The manuals have pretty detailed dimensions. I've never compared a 52 to a 70 or 72. Comparing an OS 70 to an OS 91, the dimensions appear to be similar, but when you hold the actual engines side by side there is a significant difference that can really impact cowled installations.
If you have a local hobby shop, carry your cowl with you and "test fit" engines to it.

carrellh, thanks for the help and yes I did print those manuals out....cool stuff for sure! One thing I did find interesting is that Magnum couldn't give me any dimensions but every one else could.

The Magnum 70 is very very close to the OS 70.
The 70 engines are quite a bit bigger than the 61 that you already have.
How much spare room does it have with the 61 ?
I have one of the Magnum 61's and it will spin a 12x6 Master Airscrew scimitar @ 10k using 15% nitro.
I think the static thrust was just over 5 lbs measured with the fish scale.
