Seagull Edge 540 with Saito 91 .. problems!
No Power.flying with almost full throttle... Will not loop....Stalls.. 13X6 Prop.....9200 rpm... older 60 size arf from Seagull... Have tried 14 X 6 Prop and a 13 X 8 prop.. rpm's from 8500 to 9200... engine sound good and is tuned to best performance... Lifts off on take off like it is underpowered a little... but the stalling in a loop is new to me... 12 airplanes and never had one that would not loop... A club member called it a performance stall? What is happening...? airplane weighs about 8 1/2 pounds... Elevator throws are a minimum... had first flight today... flights and lands nice and rolls like a charm.. but will not do a loop...

Stall could be from being nose heavy. Engine should pull more RPM than you've listed. My Saito 82 turns 13X7 10,000 rpm. What fuel are you using?

Poweraster 15% Nitro 18% oil , syn/castor.... also have Magnum and OS four strokes and one other Saito 65 using same fuel... could the valves be off enough to drain power out put on this engine?
Inverted and hard to start unless open throttle to about 1/2....Balanced as Seagull recommended and does not seem to be nose heavy... if anything a little tail heavy like a lot of 3D airplanes...

Does it stall out in a loop (won't go around) or does it snap roll? Snap roll means it's tail heavy.

Stalls about 25% into the loop... just stops and hangs there with no drop off to either side... I push the nose over and it flies away.... I even started the loop with full power and a shallow dive.... I am having computer problems now and hope this comes through.... Thanks... Richard

Man, I hate to be negative but a buddy of mine had the older version Seagull Edge. He tried everything imaginable to get it to fly right all the way up to putting in a Saito 120 and it alway flew snappy, and like it was ready to just fall out. It would hardly come off the ground. CG was right where it was supposed to be too. We came to the conclusion that it had to be a wing or stab AOA problem.
Anyway he ended up scrapping it and getting the newer version. Flies like a dream with half the power.
