Default glitches caused by onboard glow driver

I have a rascal 110 with new satio 150 fs inverted. put a onboard glow driver on to help with idle, took off and the plane was all over the sky, (very scary) . decided that the only thing I did different from last time was the glow driver, so I unhooked it and it flew fine.

It is likely to be the plug connection that is the problem. When the engine is running the vibration gives an intermittent connection hence interference.

I gave up on the one that was supplied and made my own.

Could it be that you have grounded your engine and put positive power to your plug?
That would cause glitching. You have to run the power to your engine case and ground your plug!

It makes absolutely no difference in which side of the battery goes to the engine case. If you are getting interferance from the onboard ignition it is because you have some sort of intermittent connection in the loop.

Ditto to what Rodney said

DuBro makes a really great glow clip. It's available on their "Remote Safety Ignition System". Just cut it off and wire it into your system

I disagree, case has to be energized plug grounded, try it!

I have experienced this myself!

Here is a test for you.

Turn your battery around in your ignitor, if you use a hard wired 4 cell like most of us do just borrow an ignitor from a rookie! Make sure the positive end of the battery is going to the glow plug. Turn your radio and receiver on. Hook up the glow plug ignitor and 99% of the time you will see your surfaces twitch. Now turn the battery around and then hook it up, it won't glitch.

There a few variables that make this problem worse, dirty contact on the ignitor, plug etc. On an onboard arrangement especially with excessive vibration, this could be disastrous. Positive to the case, negative to the plug, absolutely!

Also check where the wires are run. Keep it all isolated from any receiver wires etc!

I had glitching on a plane of mine that had on board glow; I was using a Sullivan Metal cased Head Lock; on a YS63; the enigne vibration made the HeadLock bounce around and touch the head; I replaced it with an all rubber plug boot; no more Glitching.
