Default Filler

The area where the rubber bands go over the leading edge of my wing is crushed on one side. Is there some kind of filler (possibly made with epoxy) that I could use to fill it with? The crushed area is about 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide and about 1/2 inch deep.

Regards,
Jerry

Glue a strip of thin aluminum or brass over the leading and trailing edges where the rubber bands touch.

Is the crushed area soft? I mean can you push on it and have give to it? If not I might not worry about it. hard to tell without a pic. Since its so close to the fuselage you could dry a mix of small balsa scraps or balsa powder and epoxy to use as a dent filler.

Before you do anything, remove the wood from the area and inspect the structure underneath. It's hard to tell from the picture, but you may have compromised the integrity of the wing. After verifying it is ok (or repairing it) follow ATGNAT's (love that user name) advice about adding something stronger to the LE.

Peal the covering back, mix some epoxy with balsa dust, fill it in and smooth it out.

There is a joint there anyway so even if there IS anything weakening the structure, the epoxy will cure it.

I have used this technique a few times and it works very good.

How's the left wing joint? You might want to reinforce it too.

Ed,
The left side is ok. And the wing structure is fine. Just a break in the sheeting. Thanks for all of the help!

Regards,
Jerry
