I also had the same idea when assembling my Taylorcraft in the fall of '01.
It would require quite a bit of work on a wing that is already assembled, but anything is possible if you want to spend the time. I had planned on the typical method of using aluminum tubes into cardboard-type holders, but decided against the idea.
