Default Servos?????

Hi all,
I am needing to buy some servos for a model i am scratch building and have come across a problem. How do you know what servo should go into what plane or what loading they have. I have looked at some mail order stuff but all they have is the names. Is there a chart or something that can be used??

Any help much appreciated

Matty

Default Servos?????

The one i am scratch building is a 40 size plane, sort of pattern ship but not as long.

But I have also just purchased a super chipmunk which i need to get servos for and am putting a gms 76 in it.

Thanks for your reply. I guess i want to know how you figure these things out. Is it knowledge you just gather over time

In either case, standard servos will work fine. You could spend more $ and get faster, or more powerful ones, but unless you're flying competition, you'll probably never notice the difference.

Standard servos should be fine for any .40 size aircraft, go ball bearing if you plan on flying it a lot. As for the Chipmunk, check Tower Hobbies website for the specs on that particular plane or check the manufacturers website.

Matt,

Se if you can browse some back issues of Model Airplane News. I KNOW I've seen an article or two on spec'ing servos, what size & type are out there, I just can't remember which issue. I'm not sure if the web site has an article search feature or not.
