Default How do you cover small parts without wrinkles?

I've struggled with this for years, covering small balsa part such as tail plane pieces to small plane wrinkle free. I'm doing what it says in the Tom's Techniques harry higley book, but covering the sides and edges of the piece first, but when it comes time to do the top and bottom, wrinkles galore. Using the heat gun causes it to pull away from the edges, even after being tacked down. And I'm pulling it fairly tight, being sure to go corner to corner, then midway down, then iron the edge seams. I have to be careful about the pulling too tight, because it can warp the piece...easily. I'm using Monokote if that makes any difference.

There is a thread here on RCU written by MinnFlyer all about covering. This may give you the information that you are looking for. Good Luck, Dave

Try Hangar 9 ultracote. I didn't think there would be a difference till I tried it myself. Now I won't use anything else. I am no where near a professional coverer either. Try one roll and you won't go back o monocote. Good luck.
