Default ESC Question

What size ESC would you use with a 24-45-3790 ammo brushless inrunner? I have a 30 amp esc right now and I wonder if I could use that. The motor will be going in an Electrifly L-39 with a 11.1v 3s 2250 lipo.

Thanks

Default RE: ESC Question

Yes and no, depending on what prop you hang on that motor. Do you have an amp meter? Start with a somewhat smaller prop and slowly go to full power while watching the amps, stop throttling up if the amps reach the ESC amp limit, that means the prop is too big. If you can go to full power without hitting the ESC amp limit, you can go to a bigger prop.
This motor is rated 25 amp continuous and 50 amp burst. Your ESC won't let you use the motor's burst power but it will hancle the continuous power, but just barely. Make sure the ESC gets plenty of cooling air.
The ESC is going to be the weak link in the chain and it is the weakest link that determines the maximum power you can make.
