Default What Happened to Balsarite?

I've tried buying Balsarite for some time now - months! The LHS doesn't have any and cannot get it - even Tower lists it as "Temporarily Unavailable". Anyone know the situation. I've found the SIG priduct not as good.

Default Balsarite

Dunno:

Looking at Coverite's website it shows it as still being a product that they supply.

There was a thread on the rec.models.rc.air newsgroup back in January where someone said that Tower and a LHS told them the product was discontinued due to hazardous chemicals in it. I don't remember if anyone ever confirmed the story or not, but there was a lot of discussion about substitute materials. You might want to search on groups.google.com.

We can only hope that it has been discontinued, I absolutely hate the stuff.

Somthing must be wrong at Coverite. You cannot get Balsrite or Super Coverite right now...

Cheers!

YOUR BETTER OFF WITHOUT THE BALSARITE. I USED IT WITH 21ST CENTURY FABRIC, FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER AND STILL ENDED UP WITH A LOUSY JOB. WHEN I HAVE TIME, I PLAN TO RECOVER THE PLANE WITH ULTRACOAT..........NO MORE COVERITE PRODUCTS FOR ME . JUST MY 2 CENTS....................

This is just out house talk but someone said it was because of a labeling problem something about it causing bad health problems in California and their wasn't a warning on the lable.

I ran out of it and bought a can of Stixit...seems to work as good as BalsaRite for MicaFilm...We'll find out when it's in the air..if great big pieces of white stuff comes floating down I'll know it didn't work

Why not try Balsaloc, from the people who make Solartex. Works well for me.

:sunsmiley it is used to make fabric bond much better to the airframe, you apply it with a brush, let it dry over night , litely sand to smooth it of, then you put your fabric on with your iron,, it`s an excelent adhesive,,

Try Sig Stix-It. It comes in a smaller can than the balsarite. I just used it for the first time and it works fantastic.
