My SU-27 Drains battieries too quick, help!
Hey there people, I got an Art-Tech SU-27 flanker (brushless version) which didnt have alot of power to start out with. I upgraded the motors to KB20-40-15L 3800kv Brushless Motors from hobby city and a couple of super-simple 20A ESCs. Its really fast and powerful now, but it totally depletes a 2500Mah 25C battery in under 5 minutes, and the battery gets pretty hot.
I have 2 ideas; the ducted fans have 6 bladed fans and I was thinking of cutting some blades off to make them 3-blade fans. Also, I thought of going to 15A or even 12A speed controllers.
The jet has more than enough power and speed now and I would be willing to sacrifice some of that for some flight duration. Anyone with experience in this, I would really appreciate your advice! Thanks alot, -Aaron.

OK, nevermind. I looked at the specs for my new motors and theyre rated for only 16A. I'll replace the ESCs. Thanks anyways for looking.

The max rating of the ESC has nothing to do with current draw or battery life. It is the current draw is determined by motors design and load. You probaby needed to upgrade the battery when you upgraded the motors. The hot battery and low duration pretty much confirms it.

From the looks of things the current draw is pretty high. I dare say the load may be a little high for the motors you have. I'm not sure what is available for the SU-27 in the way of fans sizes but seeing how you have more than enough power I'd try lower pitch fans to ease the load on the motor. This will lower current draw and extend flight time.
