The Dx5 is a little on the cheesy side in my opinion. It feel very cheap and the one I messed with took 4 AA batteries. For those reasons, I would lean toward the DX6i although I have never had personal experience with it. I do own a DX-7 and I love it.

The DX6i also take only 4AA batteries.

RDS8000 form Airtronics. About the same price with (2) Rx's and a lot more features then either radio. Just my 2 cents worth.

I have had both in my hands and would go with the dx7, I think its a much better radio. I've heard of some problems with the dx6i. Have not seen the dx5, if its built like the dx7 it would be alright.

DX7 is a dynamite radio.

RDS8000 is what I have, a great radio missing many of the features of the DX7, but much less expensive (and comes with 2 receivers!) I would consider it a beginning radio that will be replaced eventually.
