os 56 surpass muffler
I was stupid and broke off the fuel compression nipple on the muffler onn my 56 surpass. totally sheared it off and cant back the lower part out.. Does anyone know what I can do to repair this.. I dont wanna spend 40 bucks on a new muffler.. Could I plug the old hole, drill a new one and install a new nipple??

Have you tried a small screw extractor? You may also be able to carefully drill out the old piece and run a tap through the hole to clean out the threads.

Yes I think that it is the best way to go. (As ChuckW mentioned)
If it does not conclude satisfactorily, then just make a new hole as you mentioned in the initial post.

Ditto, go to Home Depot,or any good hardware store and ask for a set of screw extractors. A small one will screw right into the existing hole in what's left of the nipple. They are tapered with a reverse thread, so as you tighten it, it will eventually grab onto the nipple and screw it out.

Chances are you could stop in at a local machine shop and cry a bit and they would take it out for you FREE. Or as said above you can buy a set of easy outs. ENJOY !!! RED
