Default V-Tail rudder-vator deflection directions

I am setting up an experimental foam craft with a V-Tail ... I'm getting conflicting info from a manual and an article on the Internet as to which surface moves which way for right/left turns. I think part of the problem is because they never state if looking from the rear or from the nose. One always should view controls from the rear, as this is the way pilots view everything (facing forward). For a right turn, viewing from the rear of the tail, I feel the right rudder-vator should deflect down... and for a left turn the right R/V should deflect upward. Of course the opposite is for the left R/V. An article on the Internet "Simple Aerodynamics of the V-tail" agrees with my assumption. However my R/C Transmitter manual has a V-tail drawing depicting the exact opposite. I certainly do not want the controls to be backwards, especially for the flight. I would appreciate some input from someone who has flown a V-tail model. Thanks... Jim B

Just hold the plane so that one side of the tail is vertical. Then make the other side do the same. The last one I did both raised in the middle for up.

The rudder action is counter-intuitive.
It should look like this...
With either surface held vertically as if it were the rudder, left rudder is left deflection.

Paul, what plane is that in the second pic. That looks like a fun project with the flying v tail.

There have been many crashes over the years (especially before all the help on the internet was available) due to the wrong (reversed) setup of V-tails. (I was guilty of one of them years ago). As mentioned above ...... pretend each one is a vertical stab/rudder. Bob

.
That's a plane I built for the Baker Marathon, electric division.
Intended to carry 3 8x3200 Nimhs in parallel, Astro 25 geared motor.
Burned out two motors and a couple of ESCs testing it.
Never did go to Baker with it.
100" span, 1324 sq.in. wing, 3-1/2# w/o batteries.
I expect a largish outrunner and Lipos would be good for it now.
