Default Great Plains 120 Chipmunk Paint Colors

I Need to repaint the fiberglass fuselage on a used Great Plains 1.20 22% Chipmunk.
I would appreciate any information on the actual paint color codes/paint mfg used on this airplane - red-white- blue.

THANK YOU,

Default RE: Great Plains 120 Chipmunk Paint Colors

You didn't say if you were going back to the orginial paint scheme or not ??
I had to repaint some of the white area on mine due to some fine spider cracks in the fiberglass fuse and Dupli Color was not a good match there but works for me.... [:@]

The GP Super Chipmunk 120 as purchased new is covered (wing, stab, rudder ) is covered with Monokote... However as the fuse is painted the best way would be to take some paint chips to your local automotive paint shop and have them mix up what you need.
To get the best fuel proof paint would require a two part mix just before you spray type such as Emron from DuPont.... Caution though you will need a Darn good respirator as most paints in this catagory are bad news if you are not equiped properly.

Here is a link to the GP Chipmunk Manual and the color reference is on page 4 bottom of the right col.

http://manuals.hobbico.com/gpm/gpma1303-manual-v1_1.pdf You can down load it from there if you like !

Monokote comes in White, then the Red is Missile Red and the Blue is Sapphire Blue, I believe but you can check the manual.

Shaky Cans such as Top Flite's LusterKote is unreliable in their color match to Monokote in example their Missile Red is too
orange for my taste you would be on your own using it. Besides that the area to be painted is quite large and it would be hard to get good coverage with out orange peel and dry areas.

More information here..... warning it is 39 pages long !

Hope this helps somewhat.
Good Luck on your Painting !
