Default Power for CG Extra 300

It is not the size of the engine, but how you use the throttle that counts. I have seen them with Webra 1.20's in them. Flew great, but the owners didn't use full power except to climb.

Most I have seem have had a .91 in them. An OS .91FX handles the plane well.

It would seem to me that a more appropriate question would be, "How much trouble am I going to have balancing the plane with a heavy OS 1.08?"

The 1.08 is a good engine, but heavy. If you want power-to-weight, get the .91 with a Performance Specialties or Jett muffler.

Default Sorry, wrong engine

I'm sorry, you said ASP 1.08. I have a Magnum 1.08 which is the same as the newer ASP 1.08. Same answer.

I have had my 1.08 and my Mag .91XLS in the same Joss Stick. It feels lighter and actually climbs better with the .91. The 1.08 is a good steady engine.

I have a buddy, a scale flier with a couple of sport planes. He has 5 OS 1.08s and a single .91FX. He swears by the 1.08 for scale planes, but says he'll tell anyone that a sport plane where weight counts, flies better with the .91.

As for just flying the CG Extra, no problem. Use a 15-8 or a 16-6 is the gear is long enough.

There have been a number of GB 300s at our field over the last ten years or so, including two of mine and several of my good friends, all with Webra 120s, Perry pumps with the tank on the CG, and APC 15x12 or 16x8 props. Weights on honest scales are right around 10 lbs. Vertical figure eights are no problem. They are great RC airplanes.

I have no doubt that this airplane will fly very well with the 108 engine as well.
