Default HOW TO CHARGE NEW LIPOS

Hi all,

I bought a brand new Lipo 2200 mAh 11.4 V 3 cell (Mystery brand) and I charged it at 2200 mAh until I hear the beeping sound. I then put that in my Parkzone Trojan to fly and to my horror, it lasted only 6 minutes flying at half throttle. I almost lost the plane trying to make it back. I have heard that with new Lipos you want to charge at 1/3 of mAh for a few times then do at 2200mAh? DP

lipos need to be cycled a bunch of times to acquire maximum running time. some don't reach their peak capacity until cycled 15 times. you can keep using them and recharging, or you can cycle them a few times with your charger.

do not run the li-po's down dead , if you take the voltage too low they won't recharge. I think its like 3.1 volts per cell, so for a three cell about 9.3 volts is the limit. If your charger has a read out, you should not have to put in more than about 70% of the max Mah for a battery. Like for your 2200's you might want to stop flying so that you only have to put about 1500Mah back in. I generaly time for landing around 8 min. and get it down at 10 min. . On my 3300's that only needs about 2200 Mah recharge.
