Rippled Balsa Sheeting
I have asked this before, but am still puzzled on how to fix balsa sheeting that has rippled after I wet a wing to take out some minor warping. Recently, I blocked and wetted down a wing that I am constructing on my SE with Windex with Ammonia D. Once the wing dried, it was almost completely straight, but the balsa sheeting on the top deck next to the fuse had some ripples in it. I posted the question, and got some good advice yet I can't seem to get the ripples to completely disappear. The ones that are the worst run parallel to the line where two sheets of blasa were glued together to form one large sheet. (According to the instructions in the SE kit) Each time I wet down the wing to try to get the ripples out they are still there. Any help would be appreciated.

Yep Balsa surgical procedure definitely called for . If you're good with a sharp saw and knife you may get way with cutting the rippled wood away and putting a new piece in place . Using piece of sheeting that is 1/32 thicker when you piece the removed area back in gives you something to sand and blend with the rest of the sheeting. After its all done DON"T WET IT.

Rippled Balsa Sheeting
Been talking to others at my LHS and some at the club I belong to. Looks like I am going to try a little filler. The ripples that are left are small and if the filler does not work I can always cut out the sheeting. Lately though I have been in repair mode. I had a questionable Memorial Day. Landed too hard with my 4*60, sheared off the landing gear bolts and then sanded some of the covering off as it slid down our paved runway. Then within 3 hours, doing rolls with my Ultra Stick 60 when I came out inverted. Thumb made the right move, but the brain took over and I turned it into Ultra Sticks.... Got it back in the air today, now it's back to building. Thanks for tips though, I will let you what I finally decide to do. One guy said, sand it, cover it, fly it.
