Default hs-81 & somthin extra

Hey all, I'm trying to reduce weight on my somthin extra. I'm using a 225 on the throttle and wanted to replace it for an hs-81. Obviously their is no strain in this application but I'm wondering if it will handle the vibration from my saito 82? Has any one done this?

As long as you do not mind using an analog servo, no worries...

I prefer digital always...

A HS-81 will work allright. Myself i prefer the HS-85 in my opinion not that it matters much. Is better electronics and a stronger gear set. Of course it's probably eight dollars more. I have also use a Futaba S3101 and have been happy with both. The HS-81 when i've used it i have not been real happy with the pot life.

I've used 81's on the throttle of Q-500 racers. The trick to get them from dyeing due to the high vibration of 19 K is to have the throttle linkage split in half with maybe a quarter inch gap. You then join the linkage together with a small length of fuel tubing. If you get the right size tubing that is a force fit over a 2-56 pushrod end on both sides of the split it holds together real well but doesn't transmit the vibration to the servo. This is with Golden Rods. you know a tube in a tube pushrod.

I have used several HS81's and have never had any troble with them

Do not use them sideways. Always run off the ends because of the single screw mounting.

I have used the HS 81s for throttle quite often. I have even used them on the ailerons for small race planes. There are some better servos of the same size though as mentioned.
