Glow Plug - polarity matter?

Default Glow Plug - polarity matter?

Does the +/- polarity on a glow plug matter at all? I'm setting up a remote glow plug system, and was curious if it mattered one way or the other. If I swapped the negative and positive would it do anything negative?
