Is RTV fuel proof?
I've been using the Red high temp Loctite brand (called Ultra Copper) as thread lock and gasket replacment on engines for years...it's as fuel proof as it gets

Is RTV fuel proof?
I think true RTV was developed for the electrical manufacturing industry and is safe to use around electrical components. Most people referring to RTV really mean slicone sealer.
I've used silicone sealer from the home stores - the stuff that says 100% silicone is plenty fule proof.

RTV Corrosive?
I used it to fill and seal all the butt connectors on my boat electrical wiring. Fill the butt connector with the goop, push the wires in and crimp. It seals all moisture out, and ensoures a good connection. I've never had a problem with any wiring and it still tests impedence well. Definately not bad for electrical components

Yes, the RTV that has the vinegary smell is very corrosive, especially to electrical components. There is a silicon sealant that is made for electical use though, just be sure of which one you are getting. The average kind you pick up at the local hardware store is corrosive.
