I've had good luck with www.advantagehobby.com lately. What I like is that they carry both Horizon and Hobbico products, shipping is free for orders $50 or more and they seem to get everything out the door quickly.

www.sigmfg.com also sells from their site I believe as does www.airborne-models.com.

Chuck, a quick question. Aren't most of these cheap ARFs made by CMP?? Ihave assembled a number of these cheap ARFs and they all seem to look like they are made by the same company??

CMP is China Model Products and they make the planes then ship them to different distributors like Nitroplanes.com with there name on the box. Sometimes the distributors have them made in different colors or patterns or just minor changes. My question is does anyone know who the different distributors are?? Ihave been finding ARFs from different companys that are one and the same, even have the same little mistakes built into them.
These are pretty good planes for the price but you do need to know how to make some fixes or changes before you assemble them.

I think a lot of the inexpensive ARF's you see form places liek Nitro Planes are from CMP, Fly Models and a few places like that. I could be wrong. heck, those could all be the same place too.

I also think the Chinese seem to copy each other sometimes but that's just a theory of mine.

There is definitely a difference in ARF's. the last couple I bought from Great Planes have been unbelievable and I'm impressed with the Horizon stuff too. Ipicked up an Aeroworks ARF not to long ago too. I thought it was on the pricey side until I opened the box and saw what I got for the money. It is probably the best Ihave seen yet.

Chuck, Aeroworks name just came up last week and between the ARF guys {I'm not one of them so Istay out of these talks} it was decided that the Aeroworks now has what they feel is the best ARF on the market??
Little info here though, these guys are all giant scale IMAC pilots and flying 40% planes at least. Even as there Sunday spotr planes!
One of my old students was in on this because he is looking for a smaller size YAK 54. We ended up on there web site and they all look pretty good but yes, the price was a bit up there.
When Iassemble an ARF for someone it's such a pleasure when it turns out to be a Hanger Nine instead of a Nitroplane!! Almost nothing extra needed except the assembly. You get what you pay for!! Kinda!

Have you ever been to the buy/sell side of this site??? f not check it out. Perhaps you can find what your looking for there at an even cheaper price. In my IMO you should re-glue every joint you can reach on most ARF's as for what ever reason that seems to be the weak point on all the ARF's out of China and that part of the world. But I could be wrong.........I'm just speaking from the experiance I have had with the three ARF's I have owned plus most of the guy's at our club who have had them. Ihave now a Great Planes Giant Aeromaster ARC and it is one of the best ARF's/c's that I have ever came across as far as construction but it states in the assembley manul that you need to re-glue all the joints you can reach just to be safe. This also was the case with my QQ Python. seems like even the better ARF's out ther are just not that good as far as the glue goes.
