How do you hang/store ur planes?
I have a large enough shop but not enough wall space so I was looking for ideas on hanging my .40 size to .90 size planes from my ceiling. Its finished drywall cathedral stlye not a flat ceiling. Any creative ideas using stuff around the shop would be appreciated. THanks,

I have seen a hanger made from padded PVC or copper pipe that slips under the wing on either side of the fuselage and then comes together above the fuse. Then you just need a hook in the ceiling to hang it from. You would need to add a piece of cord or chain to bring down clear of the sloped ceiling.
I'll try to find a pic of the hooks that I am talking about.

I am very limited space wise therefore have only my 2 car garage to work in and store everything. this I even share to some degree with my wife and her stained glass hobby. Anyway most of my 24 aircraft of varying sizes are hung from ceiling. I'll tell you one thing there's not an inch of space anyplsce that's not used for tools cabinets chuck full of misc. etc. So I envy you with a separete work shop with high ceiling.i use ceiling hooks screwed to ceiling and loop cord over them. 2 per plane to hang them. Those with detachable wings are easy the othewrs take lot of space, but get done.

I store a lot of my fuse's like rcplanes does in the first picture except that I have them alternated, one up one down, saves a lot of space.
In rcplanes second picture there is a wing rack in the background and I use a method like that except it's built from the floor up. One thing I've noticed about wing racks is that we usually lay the wings flat, WHY ?? It takes up a lot of space that could be gained if the wings were stood on their leading edge. I transport mine on edge and when we traveled in the 5th wheel the wings were stored on the leading edge to have more room in the compartment. We did that for 13 years and never had a problem.
With pvc pipe you can come up with all kinds of neat arrangements and in most cases not to expensive. ENJOY !!! RED

WOW Those are some great ideas!. BTW: Delman how long did it take you to get yur plumbers license :>), no really thats impressive.! Well Im out da door to Home Deepoo. I guess I should get lots of that purple stuff too. Is that just pipe insulation on those racks? Ill check it out. Im not sure how this is going to work with a sloping ceiling but Ill give it shot! Much thanks for the photos....Delman you ought to make those plans available on-line as a PDF... for $5.00 ! great!

Pretty much anyway I can!! I moved from a 1000sq.ft. shop into this little thing, about 14X15 with a bathroom. It does have heat and air though. The shop looks worse then normal right now because I have a couple of different things going on all at the same time. When the big bipe has the engine and gear removed it too hangs on the wall, you can see one of the empty wall hooks. Problem is it's too heavy when it is in flying shape. The bath tub is for planes ready for recovering. I either need more room or smaller planes!!

1" x 3" furring strips and slit pipe insulation.
The wings I hang from nylon strapping - one end of which is fastened to a dowel and pegged to the beam so I can drop it to remove the wing.
My biplanes I hang from the ceiling by their cabanes and their wings are resting on dowels covered with pipe insulation foam

The wall bracket ideas are simply and effective BUT i got all the walls covered with bracket shelving holding parts and books, so the strap idea is out standing My05Monte!...very simple to make.
I guess I could use a ladder to get them up and down since my ceiling is Cathedral type well maybe ... the shop is a little cramped for moving ladders around. What goes up...ain't coming down real easy.
