I have a DAZZLER that I can't get to do a very good snap-roll I have moved cg back but still can't get a good one. I don't know if the ailerons are to far down causing the wing not to stall, or the just the thick wing just wants the fly to good. Only thing is it does negative snaps pretty good. It seems like the ailerons need to be raised but don't know how it will fly.

A true snap uses only Rudder and Elev. Add more throw to your rudder and elevator and try it again. You probably don't have enough throw to get it to go.

Hi FLYBOY,
Are there true snap rolls and fake ones? Why is a "true" snap with only rudder/elevator?
The couple of descriptions I've read on how to perform them indicate burying the sticks in the corners (which necessarily includes aileron).

Here's one.

Thanks!

I have the rudder touching the elevator, I did that trying to get more gyro but it still does a slow ragged looking snap, not as crisp as I would like, I was thinking my ailerons were acting as flaps and not letting the wing stall properly since it seems to do better at negative snaps, it really winds up good inverted. I may have to cut my elevator to get more travel. I also have the elevator going past factory specs.

Thank you for the advice.

I never could get my Dazzler to do a good snap either. It was more like a funky looking barrel roll..............John

Here's one.

Technically in full scale aerobatics the snap roll is defined as an auto rotation around the yaw axis with the wing in a full stalled condition. It's a horizontal spin. The technique is to raise the angle of attack abruptly to cause a stall and at the point of the stall apply full rudder in the direction you want to go. Ailerons are cheating. You can get a high speed roll that degenerates into a snap, but ideally the maneuver is done stalled with rudder only. The hard part is getting the AOA to go high enough at high speed to get the stall.
