We absolutely need this forum!. I was just looking at a .15 size stearman that would be awesome with the os fs.26 on it. YES YES YES! When I decided to get rid of all of my lipo batteries after seeing a guy destroy his vehicle, what other choice was there but nitro?

Can't we all just get along?

Are there any larger arf or kit planes made only for electric? Otherwise the 1/2A forum may be the best one for us.

I will post pics of my conversion in both places for now.

On my G-flite Taylorcraft that will use an OS .10 FSR here are the first pics. #1 shows the electric motor extention removed. #2 shows the removal of the hoizontal tray behind the first bulkhead, and the fuel tank supports that are glued in. #3 shows the 4 oz. tank and the 1/8th ply firewall that I made. Of course we are making two so, my buddy is doing the same on his. His will have a slightly bigger engine.

I have a couple of projects that I would like to convert. One is the Turner Special that was in one of the latest AMA magazine's. I have already talked to the manufacture / designer about it and he was excited that I was wanting to do it. He gave me some pretty good advise on it. The other is Horizon Hobbies micro L-4 Grasshopper. I just saw it at the AMA show in Ontario, CA and I think a little .07 that I have would be just perfect. The engine is the Thunder Tiger GP-.07 with carb. and exhaust. Neat little engine. Same engine that is in HellCat Ace's PBY Catalina. So ya, I think we could use a forum like this.

C'mon folks show your conversions!

The modifications on my G-flite Taylorcraft are mostly done. The engine unit is ready to be glued on.

I think it would be nice to have an electric to glow conversion forum.

Here's my contribution. It's not really a kit or ARF conversion, but a plane I built from plans intended for a geared electric brushed motor. I put in an OS .15.

Bipe Flyer,

That is so cool, I love it! What set of plans did you build it from? And what is its wingspan?

I don't recall for sure, because I borrowed the plans from a friend, but I think they were from the UK mag - RC Model World.

I built it around 1999 and the little Pup met its demise in 2003 in an altercation with a Top Flite P40.

It's (or was) really nice! Got a B USA pup, but that is super cool and just right. That Stearman looks just right Mike!

Hope the weather calms down after our drenching scheduled for nest week here in Cali so we can see the maiden on that G Flite Scale Dail.

Looks like building season is really about to hit out here....and to think I was flying in a t shirt at sundown last week.....[]

My opinion? Would be great to share experiences, especially for those of us that like small internal combustion engines and have increasingly more difficulty to find suitable airframes on the market.

I've converted 5 electric planes to IC power by now.

I've also put an OS FS-26 on a Multiplex Easy Cub, but haven't mayden it yet, as well as a Graupner Mini Taxi witha PAW 55.

I have an old (aprox 1990) Kyosho foam electric zero that I am thinking about converting to glow. Would it work, and what engine would be a good match for it?

What is the wingspan? I knew a guy back in the 80's that was a 1/2A guru. He had a very small foam Zero that he flew with a TD.020 and Cannon mini RC equipment.

My "G"-Flite Taylorcraft is done and ready for flight! Planning on flying tomorrow.

The wingspan is 39.25 in. and the fuselage is 32 in.

Great job on your taylorcraft!

39"? Mmmmm that Zero would be .049 size or even a little bigger. Robart has retracts for that! They worked great in most of the House of Balsa 36"warbirds.

The new electric retracts from E-flite look pretty good.

Really, guys, how do we get a new category for this topic? Anyone know any moderators?

Does anything have to be done to the foam so the exaust wont hurt it? I don't know what kind of foam it is. Here are some pics of it.

Could you post a link to those retracts please?

My little L-4 Grasshopper has a 38" ws and a Thunder Tiger GP-07 is what I have put in it. I worked on it until 1am this morning. May go break in the engine today with Scale Dail.

It was a pretty good day for us glow flyers! Our "G"-flite Taylorcrafts flew like they were on rails! Those who go with the stock electric set up are really missing out! Wow! mine flew just as easy and effortlessly as ever! At 2 pounds it may even be lighter than electric[X(]! And with that little OS.10 it did rolls and loops with ease and ran a long time. In fact I made two 7-10 minute flights on one tank full(4oz.). This will be a great little putt putt to fly as a break from the heavy iron! Thanks to my buddy Bob, fellow glow Talorcraft flyer for taking the flight pics!

Hellcat Ace came out with a suprise Electric to glow conversion today, there is a clue in one of the pics!
