I am looking forward to building this cub kit and i would like to have an opinion on what 4-stroke engine i should use. I dont want to over power however i still want to use floats. It recomends 40-45 but i have not yet seen a .45 4-stroke. Any sugestions?

I would be looking at the saito 56 four stroke. Anything less and you won't get it off the water most of the time. We use the surpass 48 too, but that has more trouble getting it off of the floats. You can always cut the throttle. Don't put in too little, you will hate it.

Everyone here that flys them on floats has moved up to the 56.

Remember, the box reccomendation is for 2 stroke engines. With four strokes, you need more.

Make sure you use OS four stroke plugs in it. Runs best that way. I put a cheap plug in an os once and never got it to run right. Got ticked and gave it to a friend. He put an OS plug in and it still runs good. Wooops.

Get the .56 Saito. I have 4 Saitos, and the .56 is my best starting/running engine. With a 12-6 Graupner prop on my "close to" 6 lb. Starduster, I have almost unlimited vertical. ...lownslo...
