RC Field Box identity

RE: RC Field Box identity
Looks like a wooden version of the fiberglass field box that use to be sold by Aero-trend back in the late 70's. We (Fliteglas Models) made the fiberglass part for Aero-trend. I don't know if they are the same people whose ads I now see in the magazines and internet.

RE: RC Field Box identity
Back in the 70s, people designed and built there own field boxes. There were very few kits or ready to use field boxes. RCM and probably other magazines had how to articles on field boxes, but all my flying buddies just built their own boxes.
The box in the photos certainly could have been someone's own design.

David, It really is nice isn’t it. I think it’s the (Eagle) version. I plan to glass and paint it in my pattern/racing colors with a glass like clear.

Korvettes,
The instructions that came with the box have this phone number and e-mail address

Hope that helps, It’s a shame that advertisement cost’s are so much that mom and pop shops can't afford to advertise their products.

I have had this box since the late 80's andits stiil working well for me. Its a Custom Woodcraft. The onlyissue I have with it is that it appears to be covered with clear polyurthane, and over the years the finish is crazing and peeling from the nitro and sunlight. Im going to sand it sometime and spray it with some fuel proof clear. Great box. I recommend it!

RE: RC Field Box identity
I had a Custom Woodcraft box in the 70's and after being out of the hobby for 20+ years, I came back in and discovered that they were not available any more. SO, I built one based on old photos.
Flash forward....I bought a very nice Custom Woodcraft box last year and would be willing to sell it. Not cheap. Do not respond if you are a bottom feeder. These are nicely crafted boxes, not too heavy, plenty of room for "stuff". Russ V (406) 781-7233

RE: RC Field Box identity
I had one many years ago, great box but I thought too heave for the field because it held EVERYTHING and was too big to be in the hot-pits.
I removed the wing holders from the back and used the box for my race boats, I raced 7.5 OBT's/outboard tunnel hull boats.
With a sheet of ply inserted in the fuse holder (on top) and a slot in one end to hold the engine while starting it held the boat firmly.
The folding legs and fold down work table were a plus.
I know... too much information.
