I purchased a couple of books from www.amazon.com from what I can remember they were a series of articles from model airplane news magazines. They have information of how to apply rivets, panel lines..etc. Here is the link to amazon

A couple places you can check for publications about scale.
www.rcmmagazine.com go to the RCM Store - Books
www.modelaircraft.org (AMA web site) and to the Web Store - catalog. Or just check some of the magazine web sites and do a search for articles on the subject(s).

Mike, You might get some ideas from one of my web pages. I've recently dealt with most of the concerns that you mentioned. Overall I was happy with the result. From my homepage, select the B-25 project.
I learn more on every project I build. I suspect that is what keeps this hobby interesting. Best of luck...
