Default Servo size for 143" wing span

I am finishing up a one of a kind Belanca CH-200.

It has a 143" wing span. The ailerons are 3" x 24" and the plane will be close to 40 pounds.

What size servos do I need for the ailerons?

How do you figure out this sort of stuff?

I know I could put a 150 oz servos in the wings, but what size does it really need?

Default RE: Servo size for 143

i would put one of these http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXNRN6&P=ML its the exact same servo as the hitec 5955 without programming capabilities (useing a servo programmer not a tx)
if not those go bigger...thats a big plane

That's a 333 oz. servo.

Isn't that a little over kill?

I'd think 150oz would be a little over sized but I don't know.
That's why I'm asking.

I have often gotten by with regular servos by using boost tabs. With a little design help on boost tabs, you can fly a full scale plane with 120 in/oz servos. I believe Burt Rutan did just that to prove a point, used regular RC servos to fly one of his Canards by having the servos drive the boost tabs. I've used the technique on several 1/4 scale planes on all three surfaces; rudder, elevator and ailerons using the lowest powered Futaba servos, 148's if I remember correctly, will full authority and no problems. If you Google "Boost Tabs" you will find several examples.
