Spray Systems
I'm looking for an economical way to spray paint an airplane with latex. Has anyone tried this Earlex system which sells for around $130, or anything similiar? I've tried foam brushing the latex and wasn't happy with the finish. The plane is a 100" wing span Stinson.

hvlp spray guns are very cheap at harbor freight, etc. but you need a compressor, air hose, air dryer/filter also. your idea certainly looks like a cheaper route to go.

Harbor Freight HVLP gun and any of the small compressors you find on sale. I gave away my big compressor and just have the small single tank now, it works very well for model painting and I can even use air tools with it and can air up my car tirs. Worth having around. Something like I have can cost you under 100 bucks and have a lot of uses.

RE: Spray Systems
I have the "Wagner Finecoat" HVLP unit. It looks very similar to the Earlex you show. I have had it for so long I cannot remember when I got it. I have used the automotive Base Coat/Clear Coat paints, Single stage paints, Latex paints. it works very well. Being low pressure there is very little over spray. The paint goes on the airplane and not all over the walls.
Both of the airplanes in the picture were painted with it. Latex with a fuel proof automotive clear coat.
