Default Zenoa G26

I installed a Zenoa G26 on my plane and set the fuel controlls to factory specs. But when I get it to about half throtle it will bog then die. So I made it run rich but same thing and then leaned it out same thing. Is the fuel line to restictive? And I did have the battery fully charged.

I had the same problem and boy was my face red.[:-]
I had to rotate the carb 180 degrees and change my throttle linkage.

If you pull the carb you'll see two small holes 180 degrees apart on the carb flange.
One of those holes is not drilled thru. I had to stick in a pin to tell which was which.
I couldn't tell by eye. I assumed that the carb could be mounted either way. Wrong!

The engine would idle fine then die 5 or 10 seconds after full throttle.
Once I rotated the carb, ta-da !! Run like a champ.

Mine's not the Ei but it's the same carb.

I hope you have the same problem because it's an easy fix.

The Walbro fuel pump receives pulses from the engine to operate the diaphragm.

Most Walbros have an air passage hole that runs from the cylinder through the plastic spacer to the carb body. Others have a separate tube you have to run from the crankcase.

You can mount the carb or the spacer the wrong way so this passage is blocked. Worth disassembling to find out. This hole is on one side of the air inlet and is about 3/32" diameter.

This thread is interesting because my G-26 is doing the exact same thing.

Problem is that this engine is about 4 - 5 years old and I never had problems with it before. The engine was not run for about two years and then, a couple months ago, I put it in a P-47.

The engine ran fine during the first flight. On the second flight, just as the plane was getting light, the engine pooped out on me and I had to abort. I've fiddled with the carb adjustments every way I can think.

I'm thinking that, because the engine sat for a couple years, the carb is gunked up and I need to overhaul the carb. Any thoughts?

If the carb drys out enough the rubber diaphram may be cracked. In essence this is a fuel pump. A simple carb to open up and explore. The replacement parts are redily available from your local chainsaw, grasswhip repair shop.
Good luck, -Snuts-
