RC alternator
I was thinking the other day, when my rc battery was running dead, that it would be awesome if someone made a generator that fit on the back of the engine that could recharge the battery as you flew. Obviously it would rob some engine power... But maybe it wouldn't be much of an issue with an over powered plane. Just thought it might be cool to be able to fly with a power backup to your receiver. Any thoughts?

RE: RC alternator
Your story reminds me of the "RATs" Rotary Air Turbines tha the old jet fighter could deploy by a small door that opened from the fuse when the main engine had to be shut down in the air. This small prop provided electricity to run the communication and lighting systems, also provided hydraulic power to run steering, brakes etc. Maybe you could make a small door ith a DC motor with a prop on the that could be deployed aftet take off ?
