Smoke Oil Question
I recently installed a smoke system in my 30% Yak, and I have a question about smoke oil. I've got a friend at the local airport that says there is a 55 gal drum of smoke oil that was used for airshows. He says I can have all I want, since they no longer have airshows there. Is smoke oil for full sized planes the same stuff that the rc planes use, and does it go bad after a period of time? I think this oil is probably 10 years old...or more.

RE: Smoke Oil Question
Hi,
Smoke oil used in full scale should work in a gasoline engine. Try it and see it is probably diesel /JetA1 mix. Here is a link to various smoke oil mixes http://www.tmenet.com/brews.htm . Usuall "less is more".
Cheers,
Colin

RE: Smoke Oil Question
I know a couple people who've used smoke oil out of the large drums intended for full scale. It is the same stuff.

RE: Smoke Oil Question
I have been using that same oil for 15 years. It was given to me from the airport by me, The Red Barons team left 40 gals behind. It works great
