esc switch
I am a little new to the new lipo batterys and esc, so I may need help once in awhile.
I picked up a used profile indoor plane at a swap meet, I can not get the motor to run. don't know how to reprogram it.
I would like to swap in a new esc, but the esc was bought for a two cell lipo system and the plane I want to put it on is a 3 cell lipo battery and motor. I should also say the esc was over rated for the other plane , its a 20 amp esc.
can I put a esc bought for a 2 cell system into a 3 cell plane??? I am sure the 20a is enough for the plane.
thanks

RE: esc switch
I did a search for your ESC and while I think I found it, none of the sites list a maximum voltage or cell count.
However, most 20A ESC's I've looked at are rated for 2-3S.
Personally if it were mine I'd try it.

RE: esc switch
I think the 2s/3s voltage issue sounds good.

RE: esc switch
no, I don't know how to arm or program! I pluged the new esc in, still no motor. I am not getting any beeping eather.
what about the wire's do they have to be color to color ( white to white, red to red etc ) or do we just switch them untill the prop spins the right direction.

RE: esc switch
Plug in the motor wires first.
Now turn on the Tx.
Thottle stick all the way down and trim too.
next plug in battery to the esc, should beep one time.
next raise throttle stick to full (up) power, should beep one time again.
now lower throttle stick all the way down, should beep 3 times for
your 3 cell battery.
Now the esc is armed and the prop should spin when you
raise the throttle stick.
Should motor spin the wrong way,
unplug battery from esc .
swap any 2 wires going to the motor, should be 3 wires total.
now reapeat the steps above should spin in proper direction.

RE: esc switch
no good, I think it beeped with the first esc. I am going to charge the battery and try it again. I just want to rule out the battery being low, even if it can't be the problem.

RE: esc switch
first, Yes I had it pluged into the RX.
second, yes we cycle lipo's . But we must be carfull not to take them below the 3.1V per cell. I cycle them to check the condition of the battery pack, if I don't get enough amps out of them they could be bad.
I am having a hard time charging the one battery. One of the cells is higher than the others and the balancer took some time to level it out (the battery was in the voltage range) . Its charging now.
