Default Thin Ca Problem

When I last went to work on my model, I noticed that my thin ca glue was coming out really slowly. I realized that the entire bottle of glue is gummed up and thick, rendering it useless. Does anyone know what caused this?

Usually age will do it. CA's shelf life is limited. I keep my unopened bottles in the reefer with the beer. After they are opened then you need to take em out. Moisture is the culprit here. Also unless your doing one heck of a lot of building then don't buy the really big (like 4oz) bottles.

Age will do it. I buy mine in the 8oz bottle and just fill my small bottle as needed. I keep the big bottle in the freezer.

Really??? I don't use kicker at all so this is the first time I recall hearing that. Just being close to the CA will do it?? How close and how long does it take to effect the CA??

I have never heard the kicker closeness part before, but I do know if you keep it covered and in the fridge it will last a long time. Good Luck, Dave

CA reacts with moisture and oxygen in the air, and will solidify in time.

A properly closed container will last quite a long time.

I've taken to installing the capillary type tips on my CA bottles.

The tip is so fine that air cannot get in, yet the bottle is effectively always open and ready to dispense... ( just don't drop it! ).

I've left bottles with the tips on this way for six months and more without any problems.

Thanks for the help! Where can I find the capillary tips?

Here you go:

[link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXL490&P=ML]CA Applicator tips - Click me![/link]

If they do clog up, just nip off a bit of the tip.

I buy the same tips plus the LHS has them in different types and sizes. I keep a bottle full of acetone in my shop and just let any of the tips that have clogged soak in that until needed, makes them good as new. Also works well with the Gorilla glue.

Are you telling me that acetone will dissolve Gorilla Glue? I didn't know that. Thanks!
