Default Converting Torqmaster to run on Nimh batteries

Hi All-

I have a Torqmaster which has alligator clips which I am currently lugging around a small lawn battery to hook up to....very cumbersome. I see so many people at the field with two battery packs taped onto the bottom to make it protable but I'm not sure how to do this.

I have 2 7.2V 3300 batteries laying around, and would like to do the conversion, but I am not sure how...i.e. do I need to cut the alligator clips to create a connector to the packs? How to I connect the packs themselves?

Thanks!

Iwould put Dean's connectors on the starter and the batteries then make up a series adapter. This is how I have my Pacific Aeromodel starter set up with the same batteries. With the batteries in series you'll have a nominal voltage of 14.4 which will spin the starter nice and the Dean's plugs will insure a reliable connection with minimal voltage drop.

As for mounting the batteries, I'd just look at what others are doing and get creative with some plywood or something similar.

I'd upload some pictures of mine but I'm not at home at the moment.

I done a simmilar thing but used 4 cell Lipo's. Just made a mount out of ply to hold the batteries. Just join the packs with an addapter lead with deans (serial connection) to give you 14 volts and then join to starter wiring.

Cheers

That's pretty much how mine is set up. I didn't build a box around the batteries though. Just two end pieces with slots for the batteries to fit through with a cross brace also zip tied to the batteries.
