Default Receiver interferance

After having a near crash because of no control I have to wonder if using carbon fiber tissue on the fuselage as a substrate may have caused signal interferance. Spektrum 2.4 G equipment is used on the plane. The receiver was sent to Horizon Service for inspection. No problems were found with the old receiver but Horizon replaced the receiver any way.

So, can carbon fiber material cause interferance?

What voltage battery are you using? Spektrum/JR (same same) have had trouble with Rx voltage getting low when using 4.8V battery packs....causing a temporary loss of control....could this be your problem?....Switch to a 6 V pack

Receiver and transmitterbattery was fully charged, and onboard battery voltage display showed full charge.

yep it can, how much was in/around the plane/reciever

The entire fuselage was covered with .02 oz carbon tissue. Much like silkspan, and doped with nitrate. Both receivers are fully enclosed within the fuselage.

Absolutely, a carbon fiber fuselage can block out your receiver. So much so that Spektrum/JR have designed a receiver specifically for fuselages made or covered with carbon fiber. It has two antenna elements that extent outside of the fuselage in order to get reception.

You can find the receiver here:

Aha the picture is getting clearer. The receiver in question is a AR6200, not the AR6250 however. I don't think the weight of the cloth on the fuselage would qualify it as a carbon fiber fuselage though. But it is good to know that spektrum does make a carbon fiber specific receiver and antenna set.
