Default HD video

Having seen some member videos posted in HD I'm considering a purchase of a HD video camera.
Wondering what software is being used for editing purposes. Also want to burn to DVD for sharing with others for HD tv viewing.

Apple's iLife is hands down the best consumer software out there.  You've got to have a Mac to run it, but it's both powerful and simple to use. http://www.apple.com/ilife/imovie/

Whatever you have or get, be prepared to pop for a large hard drive.  HD video eats up a lot of space.

Iagree. iMovie and iDVD are easy to use and surprisingly powerful. They aren't up there with Final Cut or Premier of course but they are great for software that comes pre-installed on a computer.

Windows has a movie maker application that comes pre-loaded as well but I don't like it nearly as much as the Apple stuff.

There is plenty of good video editing software that you can purchased for both platforms though.

Even some of the cameras come with some very basic software.
