Default What Shipper Is Best?

I have an opportunity to buy an old still in box kit. It's one that hasn't been available on the market for some years, and one that I've lusted after for a long time. I've been assured that the box hasn't been opened and that it has continuously been stored inside an air conditioned house. I don't want it ruined while being shipped, although it is just a bunch of balsa.

Considering that it is just a kit, can anybody suggest the best shipper among the usual: UPS, FedEx, Greyhound, etc.?

Thanks much

Never had a problem with UPS ground or 2nd day service. Cost is reasonable too.

When ever I ship a kit I make sure that there is some kind of packing inside the box to prevent parts from shifting ,most kit mfg.'s don't do much in that area. I also put them in another box even if I need to make it from cardboard sheet . I ship with USPS Priority Mail & have sent kits even overseas with them . No problem! Max H. (eBay, bigmax1935)

Well UPS for me in Colorado has been nothing but a NIGHTMARE. I have to go get my package almost more times than they delivered. The boxes show a lot of wear and crunching. FEDEX has been a lot better. Brown just sucks here in Colorado!!

I have had good luck with UPS but there prices are so out of hand I went back to US post office for shipping. No problems with damage from UPS over the years and good people to deal with. Too bad the prices are so high.

They all are about the same... sometimes it just comes down to the people that are handling the boxes....

did the guy with the fork lift get yelled at by his wife on the way out the door this morning?

did his stock portfolio tank?

is his/her house in foreclosure?

Ya know?
It can be a location thing too.....

so, I would say stick with one of the major companies.. PACK IT WELL!!!! double if not triple box... as mentioned, make sure nothing in the box is moving around....
insure it and ship it....

+1,
I've had about the same, pretty good luck with all,, Greyhound included,, I go for the cheapest cost over any sort a favorite,,
For a kit box that's usually UPS or Fedex,, USPS is usually more once it gets over 2lbs

good luck
