F4 - Question
 

HI guys,
I got F4 as a gift.
I t has nothing in it and I’m trying to figure who manufacture it?
The fuselage (Plastic – Fiberglass?) and the wings (Balsa) are in perfect condition. I suspect it power by Glow engine.
The nose is missing, electronic and engine.
It’s really cool airplane so I would like to try and save it.
Any idea who manufacture this airplane? Where to search who to contact?

Cool, first one I've seen that has USS Midway on it. I lived on that boat for five years back in the late 80's early 90's so that's cool to me anyways. Definitely should save that! About your questions on the plane, maybe the dimensions such as wing span, fuse length, weight will help determine who manufactured this plane. Horizon Hobbies has/had one of them and I'm sure a hand full of others did as well. Some manufactures offered them as DF, EDF while others built them with a prop engine. Good luck.

I have a vague memory of that airplane as a fellow modeler back around 16 years ago built one that I believe is that one. If memory serves me correctly I believe he said it was a Great Planes kit probably short lived. Definitely not a DF but intended for a front mounted propeller glow installation.

I think he used a Thunder Tiger .75 but if it were me even then I thought I would want no less than .91. He never flew it and he passed away shortly after completion and I never heard what had happened to the airplane.

I think you are right John. There was a Great Planes F4 at our club about 20 years ago. It flew very well with a piped 61 on it, and the owner said it was a great flying sport model.

The Great Planes F-4 Phantom was all balsa. The OP's model has a molded fuselage, so it cannot be the Great Planes kit. I know that there was an F-4 kit manufactured in the 1970's/1980's that came in a few versions. One was with a 'glass fuselage and either built-up or foam wings (I don't recall which), and the other had fully-molded wings and fuselage. I cannot recall the name of the kit maker. Westcoast RC products, maybe?

Hey guys.........That bird is a "Lanier F4 Phantom ARF" 40-46 size. I know.....I still have one with exactly one flight on it. I powered it with a OS 50 SX. I bought it at the Toledo show several years ago.
After the first flight, I removed everything as our field is too small for it. It is very fast.
