RC Universe abreviations, terms and acronyms list
Hi,
Please find at the end of this thread an updated list of RC Universe abreviations, terms and acronyms that I have collected since I started with RC Universe. I've seen questions about what they mean and thought I should post them for everyone's benefit. To copy the list, first highlight it with your mouse, then copy it with (ctrl c), open your word processor and paste it into the word processor with (ctrl v). To print it directly to your printer, first highlight the list then select "FILE" from the upper right of the screen, then select "PRINT" from the menu, then "PRINT SELECTION". If you know of other terms that you would like to see added, please post them and I'll update the list for everyone. I hope you find this useful. Wayne Miller |

RE: RC Universe abreviations, terms and acronyms list
And to think that I thought that AMA was Academy of Model Aeronautics.
I guess after 20 years as a member I could be wrong LOL |
RE: RC Universe abreviations, terms and acronyms list
CP can also be center of pressure. But you don't see that term much in R/C.

Hi Pedro and 3DFanatic,
I'm a Canadian and took a guess at AMA definition - I've put them both in the new list - just to be safe. I'll remove the remove the first definition if you think it shouldn't be there, let me know. Thanks for the new definition 3DFanatic. Best regards, Wayne Miller |

RE: RC Universe abreviations, terms and acronyms list
in another forum I belonged to,LOL means"lots of luck"especially when some one is frustrated with something, and someone replies with"lots of laughs"laughing is the last thing I want to do when I've spent all day at the field trying to get a engine running or something of that matter and when I ask for help, and people reply LOL,I allways assumed it was"lots of luck"well stupid me!

RE: RC Universe abreviations, terms and acronyms list
Hi Aps f4u,
I agree, I think it can mean lots of luck as well. What I did with the new list is put it in as an "or". It seems a lot of the acronyms mean more than one thing. I think the best thing to do is to assume it has the meaning with the "best fit". Thanks for your input. I'll be publishing the new list shortly, the contributions have slowed down. Best regards, Wayne Miller |
RE: RC Universe abreviations, terms and acronyms list
I always thought lol was laugh out loud :D,, pretty much the same as lots of laughs. In any case thanks again for the list .Its very helpful to us new-comers.

RE: RC Universe abreviations, terms and acronyms list
Hi,
Aaron, nothing to serious, just the tail section is loose, ripped out landing gear, broke the prop and spinner. Should be up and running in a day or two. Some people have suggested I add V1, meaning rotate or verticle to the abbreviations. I can't seem to locate this anywhere. Can anyone expand on the meaning or help me with this - such as when it is used? Thanks, Wayne |

RE: RC Universe abreviations, terms and acronyms list
This may be nit pickin'..... ;)
RPM always meant "revolutions per minute" to me, of course, I come from the old school. :D Either way, they mean the same. Gary |
RE: RC Universe abreviations, terms and acronyms list
Hi AirGar,
I think your right, I'll add it with an "or" for the next update. The list came from definitions I found throughout RCU and there may be several different interpretations, however, I hope the list will be a good start and take out some confusion for new people to RCU. Thanks for your help. Best regards, Wayne |
