HOW DO I BALANCE MY BIPLANE??????

I have a sig minismith and a balsa usa phaeton II. Neither have the books with them. Do i balance them like a high wing plane or like a low wing plane. and if anyone happens to know where my CG is on either of these planes that would be great!! Thanks.

Balance it as a high wing, so your balance points will be on bottom of the upper wing. Can't help you on where the CG is.

My Smith Miniplane balances 3/8" back from the LE of the lower wing (I balance it on the bottom wing, although either wing works as long as you know the balance point). I think that's close to what the plans showed. In any case, it flies great like that.

hi

a good starting point would be to put wings on plane and measure from the leading edge of the top wing to the trailing edge of the bottom wing and balance at 25% of this distance. this will put you at a good starting point with maybe minor adjustment and you get the plane trimmed.

good luck and happy flying
