Need a good second plane
I recentally acquired a .61 Evolution engine. I also have a 6 channel Futaba radio system. I feel that I have mastered flying my trainer, and am ready to move on to possibly a low wing airplane. I bought a P-51D Mustang from wonderhobby.com. The kit was horrible. Bad directions, and not very high quality. It took quite a while to put together, and required a lot of weight to be added to the right wing tip, just to get it off the ground. After getting it in the air, it flew very sluggishly. Needless to say, I crashed it. Now I have a .61 engine, and a good radio system, but no plane. Can anyone suggest a good second plane that can handle a 60 sized engine, at a reasonable price, from a reputable dealer? Any comments would be appreciated.

RE: Need a good second plane
A spacewalker or spacewalker II are good planes if you a learning to fly a low wing. I would also suggest a super sportster. The 61 size engine would be to large though. Seagull models makes a good affordable spacewalker. And your 61 engine would fly it nicely. I had one and really enjoyed it. I now have the 1/3 scale from SIG. They are very stable and easy to handle in the air and on the ground.

ORIGINAL: redfox435cat I always recommend a Piper cub for a second plane. I say get a GP 60 cub Save the scale projects for later. A good second plane would be a Super Sportster, Big Stik, Sport Air .40, Kavalier etc. |

interesting take on it? I see the point as its a tail dragger but I give most of my introductory flights with my cub. In the case of the great planes cub or any GP kit the airfoil is not scale. more of an advanced trainer, ground handling is not as you say. I have more ground handling problems with most trainers than the cub and a 60 sized motor in the 60 sized plane is the right power for it. It was also my second plane and has been most of my students. Either way get what plane gets you closer to your prefered style of model. just a suggestion. keep em safe keep em flyin:D

ORIGINAL: knightmagic great planes big stick I'll second the stick-type plane. Aerobatic and just that little bit extra stability over a low wing to save your bacon from time to time... |
