Um, no it doesn't look right. The newer "C2" carburetor has an aluminum throttle arm and the needle valve is aluminum color. You don't want the older carburetor by MDS it was problematic. OK, that's your answer.

Now, I have several threads about the MDS 40 and the sum of it is save that money your were going to buy the repair parts for and buy a Supertigre 40.

Unlike the MDS it will actually run well and for $49 it can't be beat. There are several other good engines also but fixing an MDS isn't a great idea. There is a reason why MDS is out of business.

Yes, that is the carb you presently have in your engine. It fits the 38, 40, 46 and 48. I have a MDS 40 and 48. They run like champs.

The C2 carb is the "next generation" improved version. It is stock #MDS03800200C2. Problem is, I don't know where you will find one. Try calling Horizon Hobby and see if they have them. I think they cost around $35, if they have any left. Rather than spend that money, I'de recommend the earlier advice to get the Super Tigre 40 for $49.99. It's a great deal and a fine engine.
