Engine cutout on tight turns
 

Hello,
I have a combat plane that loops and turns very tightly. My problem is that the engine will slow or stop completly in these high g manuvers. My fuel tank is uses muffler presure and mounted behind and slightly below center, not ideal I know but I'd like to solve the problem and leave the tank as is. Any ideas would be appreaciated.

You are running too lean for your type of flying. Open your needle up a few clicks and try doing 8 loops in a roll. If you can pull through that many full up loops, you should be OK. I used to run into that in club fun flies where we did multiple loops for time. Had to richen up or lean out and quit.

If you don't stay level very long, maybe raising your tank a little would work. Give it some more fuel head from the g's. I would still not run super lean.

Thanks Ed I'll try it. I generaly set about 300- 500 below peak set with a tach also It won't do it on the first half of the tank.

I agree w Ed , sounds like a lean run, especially if its fine on the first half of the tank

If you are using muffler pressure only then the fuel is probably slopping around in the tank. Is it possible to fit a bladder tank? A pressure bladder tank will eliminate your problem.

Pictures show a typical bladder tank installation. Noticeable is no muffler pressure.

Its a Jett 6oz bubbleless and I need to have full throttle control so a presure bladders out.
