o.s. 120AX "Break in prop"

Hi Guys

What prop should I use to break in the 120AX! Can I use the same prop for general flying!

Cheers

My buddy used a 14 x 6 & also used it to fly it on his edge 540!

A 14X6 is way way way way too too too too small small small small. Read the damn booklet that came with the engine and pick any one of the props suggested in the booklet, and none of them is a 14X6. I used a 16X8 to break in mine, and it’s a sweet running engine for those of us that can read

G'day oldbob,
Well said, I dunno why the manufacturers bother to include instruction manuals, it seems as though no one reads em anyway.
Or maybe people don't believe em. & just need to ask, to be sure, to be sure.

G'day Mate,
Don't forget you have a very powerful engine, & a 16x8 is not too big, I run a Magnum 120AR with a 16x8, & it run's sweet, & it is not nearly as powerful as the 120AX.
If you are unsure go for a 15x10, but I would use the 16x8 remember don't over rev it, during run in, & it will thank you in the long run.

Sawannichani, sorry for the harsh response, but the comments by Jeremiah made my “snap”. I’m really a nice guy.[sm=49_49.gif] A 17X6 prop will be fine for this engine. I know it’s not one of the props listed in the booklet but the 17X6 is only slightly less load that the 16X8, about the same as a 15X10, which is listed. If you do not want to purchase the 16X8 you could use the 17X6 to run-in your engine. The 120AX should turn this prop 9200+after it's broken-in . I hope this helps

I use a 16X8 for pattern...I also used it for break in. Its the perfect size prop for both

Hey guys

Thanks a lot. I have ordered MA 16x8 for breakin and APC 17x6 to try some 3D! Will experiment with both -- lets see how it performs!

Thanks again
