Mounting Saito 100

I'm ready to mount my new Saito 100 in the Seagull Edge 540. The engine fits inside the cowl best when inverted. Would mounting a 4 stroke this way cause problems? Another option is to mount it at 90 degrees, with cylinder at 9:00 position, but this requires cutting a hole thru the cowl ...ugh!

Any advice? this is my first 4 stroker & I can't wait to let 'er rip!

Thank you

RE: Mounting Saito 100

I have had that same motor mounted in a Funtana 90 at 90 degrees and didnt have one bit of problem.

My uncle had mounted one in his H9 Edge 540 inverted. The only problem he had was the fuel tank was higher than the carb, and fuel poured out of the carb. He lowered the tank level with the carb and fixed the problem.

RE: Mounting Saito 100

I've had a Saito 100 mounted in a Hanger 9 P-40 and a Super Chipmunk. In the P-40 I mounted it inverted and in the Chipmunk I had it mounted 90°. It ran great in either position. I'd go ahead and mount it inverted if it will fit in the cowl. The only consideration would be to the position of the fuel tank. You will want to get the centerline of the tank as close to level with the carburateur as you can, if it is mounted above the carb it will more than likely tend to flood the engine as well as siphon fuel out of the tank when the engine isn't' running.

Hope this helps

Ken
