I need the following below? Self Tapping Screws? Arn't those for plastics? How am I going to drill those into the mount? Also - can I get those at any Ace Hardware or something?

And #4 Size screws - are those 3x12's or something? I'm confused - Any ideas/questions/concerns would be helpful - thanks!

REQUIRES: Four #4 size Screws to Install Mount to Firewall
Four Self-Tapping Screws to Hold the Engine to Mount

RE: Self Tapping Screws and #4 Screws Question

You have to mark the location of the holes on the mount then drill the holes for the screws.you should be able to find screws at lowes home depot etc. hope this helps.

RE: Self Tapping Screws and #4 Screws Question

Palmdizzy: If you want to use the self-tapping screws (designed for sheetmetal, actually) you need to drill a pilot hole in the mount. That means a hole smaller in size than the screw, but large enough to allow some relief as the screw cuts threads while being inserted into the mount.

For a #4 screw I would use a 5/64 drill bit for the pilot hole.

You can also mark the screw centers and drill and tap the mount for 4/40 screws. You can get a 4/40 tap at most hardware stores. Good Luck, Dave
