How Do You set up the radio gear in a Great Planes Pitts (post # 1)

I picked up my first large Plane the GP-Pitts with OS1.6 18-8 prop, pitts muffler, 8 hobbico TS-65 servos 2 battery packs 2 switches. I picked it up as a trade for a heli The guy who owned it never flew it and also picked it up as a trade.
The planes is in great shape the motor looks like new.
My question is how do you set up the Rec for this plane. Why two batteries and switches.Seems to be alot of servos for just one rec. Will this engine fly well with this plane. There are plenty of wire harneses inside.

I am using two batteries & switches in mine, this gives you a redundant battery in case one fails. If you have a computer radio you will want to split the ailerons, right to channel 1 & left to channel 6. This will enable you to program in flapperons & spoilerons, elevator on channel 2, throttle on channel 3 & rudder on channel 4, this is the way it sets up for futaba equip. as far as the engine, I heard the os will fly the pitts but just barely. As for mine I am running a zenoah 62cc gas engine which is way more power than you need. I am running 9 servo's in mine, 4 aileron, 2 elevator, 2 rudder & 1 throttle. The other option is to run 2 recievers in it. I have seen this quite a bit in large planes. That would explain the 2 switches and 2 batteries. You can run 1 ail on one rec and the other on a second for redundancy. Just a thought.

Actually I am running one reciever, one battery & switch is plugged into the battery port of the reciever & the 2nd one is plugged into channel 8, you can plug the 2nd one into any spare port of the reciever, check out reds site in the battery section of this forum.
