Engine thrust measurement

Gentlemen,
I would like to know how to measure engine thrust. Can I built a device / contraption to do this? The reason for asking this is because last sunday I went and tested my old Stinger 120 with a Brillelli 26GT in the nose with a Topflite 16x8 prop. It bearly got of the ground. I have to admit the plane is fearly heavy (sorry I don't know the weight yet) and we had 16+ knot winds. It flew around slow but when headed in to the wind the engine would make a strage sound and slow down even further till it turned back downwind. Should it had gotten in to trouble, I've wouldn't have been able to pull it out due to the lack of power/torq. I'm not interested in speed. I just want to fly at slow to moderate speeds. I'll have the plane on a diet very soon. Any suggestions? I thank you in advance.

You can warp a strap arpound the tail of the plane and connect it to a spring fish scale to measure the thrust of the prop/engine combination.

Sounds pretty easy, Thank you for the info.

google "aero design propeller selector". safe dpownload. I have compared it to fish scale reading and they are extemely close. You must have a tach of course. Easy to weigh the plane; weigh yourself on a bathroom scale with and without your plane.
